Area is based in between foothills of "Mahabalesh­war", "Koleshwar" and "Raireshwar" ranges which consist of Bhor and Mahad Forest area. The rivers Krishna, Walaki and Neera meander through the area. It also forms the catchment area for the Dhom, Balkawadi and Neera - Devaghar reservoir formed by the Krishna and Neera River. It comes under Northern Western Ghats of Satara District. Area has abundant mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and other form of wildlife presence. So far, we have identified 27 species of Mammals. Leopard, WildDog, Sloth Bear and Indian Gaur are known inhabitants. Yet to do the survey of Reptiles, Amphibians, Arthropods and birds.
